Who is ETC?
Excel Therapy & Conditioning (ETC) is owned and operated by Dr Sara Hulseberg, DPT, MSPT, CSCS, CSYI. Dr Hulseberg is a local graduate of Minnechaug Regional High School. She completed her Bachelor's and Master's Degrees in Physical Therapy locally at Springfield College and went on to obtain her Doctorate from Northeastern University. She is also a mentor with the Level Up Initiative, and an administrator of the #P4520 Foundation.
She is practiced in various fields of Physical Therapy; with a focus in orthopedic, sports injury, and manual therapy. Dr Hulseberg is also a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist, making her uniquely qualified in the treatment and strength training of athletes; from novices, to weekend warriors, to D-1, and Olympic level athletes.
Caroline Boyd is a Certified Personal Trainer and Sports Yoga Instructor. She obtained a BS in Public Health from Simmons College in 2013, where she also played volleyball. Following college she turned to weight training, yoga, and coached eight seasons of high school volleyball. Throughout her time playing sports, and coaching young athletes, she recognized the need for preventative health initiatives and now dedicates her time to teaching yoga to athletes and clients. She is passionate about impacting individuals with attainable, adaptable trainings, and emphasizing the importance of learning the uniqueness of the body for health longevity and function. Caroline promotes sport yoga for all genders, ages, and abilities; she is dedicated to creating a welcoming, inclusive community at Excel. Additionally she educates on nutritional knowledge, meditation and breathing techniques, as well as the mental and emotional benefits of yoga. Currently Caroline is pursuing her Performance Enhancement Specialist certification with NASM, as well as her CSCS.
Franco is a graduate of University of Massachusetts Lowell Doctor of Physical Therapy program. Additionally, he is also a licensed massage therapist, using the manual skills learned in both fields when applying techniques to help facilitate patient recovery. As a physical therapist Franco strives to educate and motivate patients to be an active part in their recovery process to ensure the best possible outcome. He is also certified in Active Release Therapy and utilizes that technique when appropriate for both clients and patients. In his free time Franco enjoys hiking, running, strength training, and golfing.
OTR/L, CBIS, MS
Lisa is an occupational therapist that specializes in neurological rehab. She graduated with her B.S., as well as her M.S. in occupational therapy from American International College in 2009. She combines traditional therapies with alternative and complementary approaches to best serve her patients and clients in a holistic manner. Lisa is a CBIS (Certified Brain Injury Specialist), Saebo certified, a Reiki practitioner, and is trained in yoga for neurological disorders. She has a deep understanding that as a therapist we must treat the person as a whole and not just the diagnosis. Lisa has provided care in inpatient hospitals, home care, and outpatient settings over the past decade and will be your biggest motivator for reaching your goals. In her free time she enjoys spending time with her family, hiking, and practicing yoga.
ATC, LMT, CSCS
Tyler is another local member of ETC, a graduate from Monson High School who then obtained his BS in Exercise Science/Athletic Training. He is an Athletic Trainer, Massage Therapist, and Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist. Tyler has experience working with active people ranging from youth sports and recreation through to the ranks of professional sports. He works hard to keep the players on the ice as the Assistant Athletic Trainer for the Springfield Thunderbirds Hockey Team, as well as having the opportunity to work with and care for the athletes in the AHL All-Star Classic and the 2019 World's Strongest Man Competition in Bradenton, FL. Tyler takes great pride in helping people accomplish their goals while providing them with the education and life tools to continue a happy, healthy, and successful future with their sports and activities.
As part of the Excel T&C Team Tyler will be providing services for athletic rehabilitation, return to play, and sport training. He also brings a unique style of manual therapies including massage, positional release, muscle energy, myofascial decompression/stretching, and dry needling.
Rolando is a Strength and Conditioning Coach, born in Puerto Rico and raised in Springfield, MA. He holds an Associates degree in Health, Fitness, and Nutrition from Holyoke Community College and is actively working towards obtaining his CSCS and finishing his B.S. degree in Applied Exercise Science with a concentration in Strength and Conditioning from Springfield College. While at SC, Rolando has had the opportunity to work with their various teams, such as; Football, Lacrosse, Soccer, Wrestling, Field Hockey, Basketball, Baseball, and Diving. Within the private training sectors Rolando has worked with various special populations, including but not limited to, Senior Citizens looking to stay active or increase their ability, as well as younger athletes looking to take their performance to the next level. Ro has a passion for reading and learning new ways to improve the lives of those within his care.
